My blog is about my journey as a business owner, writer, urbanist, mentor to women, mom, twin, advocate for causes I believe in, and backyard chicken farming, too.
I believe that all women deserve a seat at the table and that our voices, stories, and journeys are an integral part of getting us there.
My first book, Keeping Your Seat at the Table, is part memoir, part self-help, and part how-to for professional, middle-aged women who have experienced a dip in confidence or felt dismissed by colleagues, coworkers, bosses, or the corporate world due to their age and experience. This book show you how to regain your seat at the table. It includes my journey and insights from industry experts.
My published pet project, HappyNess, is about how rescuing a Doberman named Nessa brought our family closer together. It commemorates her one-year anniversary and shares her struggles and journey of trust. You can buy it on Amazon. All proceeds go to animal rescue organizations. HappyNess
I am currently writing a memoir called Suspended Dreams about caring for an elderly parent who is afflicted with significant mental health issues. It’s about my journey, how I’ve coped, and how the experience has forced me to grow in ways I didn’t see coming. I hope to publish it next year.
My first novel, Redcomb, is a murder mystery about a real estate developer who attempts to build her dream project in her hometown. Her community protests the project, her marriage crumbles, and even her closest friends begin to turn on her. She realizes she has made the biggest mistake of her professional career, and her choice to break her own golden rule of never doing a project in her own town, causes nearly every aspect of her life to unravel. Her family, friends, and colleagues are shocked and saddened when she is found dead at the bottom of her home’s marble staircase, and all signs point to suicide. But her sister doesn’t believe she would take her own life and starts her own investigation. What she discovers reveals the ugly truth about the quiet, peaceful Bay Area suburb and the hidden risks of real estate development. It also puts her own life in danger.
I wrote this novel during National Novel Writing Month. Over 300,000 writers participate in NaNoWriMo each November and several books have made it to the New York Times Best Sellers List and Hollywood. Learn more about NaNoWriMo here. I’m proud to say I reached the 50,000 minimum word count goal in less than three weeks! I hope to publish Redcomb next year.
I won the Jonathan Maberry Scholarship Award in 2020 at the San Francisco Writers Conference.
